Leveraging passion and purpose for quality employee retention

“Amid the pandemic there has been a major cultural shift within the workforce resulting in an increase in the number of U.S. workers resigning from their jobs and even more who are pushing back, refusing to go above and beyond without an increase in salary. We all are multidimensional, and more recently, countless employees have acknowledged their craving for the same positioning in their careers.

An article [by Prof. Dr. Lauren Howe, Prof. Dr. Jochen Menges and Prof. Dr. Jon Jachimowicz] published earlier this year in the Harvard Business Review suggested that employers who support the passions of their personnel have a higher rate of retention. The article ranks the most underrecognized characteristic of highly sought-after jobs as the flexibility to pursue their passions. It then goes on to explain, ‘That is, many employees may benefit from viewing their jobs as conduits to pursue their passion outside of work, and jobs that allow employees to do so may not only draw in talented employees but can help them maintain their productivity and well-being over the long-term’.”
