UZH CLFW leadership development among Top 5 worldwide

29 June 2023

The University of Zurich (UZH) CLFW team is delighted to announce that we have been selected as one of the 5 finalists for the Academy of Management (AoM) Evidence-Based Leadership Development (EBLD) award.

The EBLDP award, sponsored by the AoM Management Education and Development Division, honors high-quality, evidence-based leadership development programs, and showcases innovative and effective strategies for developing future leaders.

As machines gradually replace manual tasks and artificial intelligence assumes cognitive functions, the future will see humans focusing more on tasks aligned with their emotions and hearts. Consequently, emotions become ever more important, making emotional intelligence a crucial skill to manage and navigate effectively.

Established as a go-to place to help leaders meet the people challenges inherent in the future of work, UZH CLFW develops today’s leaders to enable them to effectively meet the challenges of tomorrow.

UZH CLFW’s leadership development programs include the EMBA Leadership Journey, which spans the entire length of the UZH’s Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program to facilitate the participants’ leadership development. Thanks to a careful mix of instruction, practice, and reflection, the journey enables participants not only to learn what effective leaders do but also to do just that themselves.

This focus on action distinguishes the leadership journey, which takes participants through three steps (Foundation -> Acceleration -> Consolidation). Each step is articulated around the “7 P of leadership”, which capture the leadership model developed by CLFW, as follows:

1. The first three P – purpose, passion, and plan – are considered the foundations of leadership and are developed in the first third of the leadership journey.

2. The second three P – people, power, and performance – concern the acceleration of leadership and are developed in the middle of the leadership journey.

3. The last P – perseverance – is considered the consolidation of leadership and is developed in the final third of the leadership journey.

We are proud to be among the top five leadership development programs worldwide selected by an independent jury for this inaugural award and extend our warmest congratulations to the winners at
