World Economic Forum 2022

Davos (Switzerland) — 24 May 2022

In partnership with World Economic Forum, the Tamil Nadu Advanced Manufacturing Hub focuses on encouraging development of new technologies and innovation in the fourth industrial revolution. On May 24th, 2022, Prof. Dr. Jochen Menges delivered a keynote address at the event ‘Building Advanced Manufacturing Ecosystems for Sustainable Growth,’ organized by Guidance Tamil Nadu in Davos.

Prof. Dr. Jochen Menges proposed that alongside technological solutions, we need to innovate and implement new people practices that allow people across an ecosystem to better collaborate and co-create the future of work.

Doing so requires enhancing both the technical and socio-emotional skills of people across the ecosystem, as executives in India have recognized: 95% of them believe emotional intelligence will become a must-have skill, as artificial intelligence and automation replace routine tasks - compare that to 53% in Germany (Capgemini, 2019). In addition, India’s National Education Policy now includes teaching social end emotional skills as part of schools‘ regular curriculum.

He concluded by emphasizing that focusing on technology and people will lay the best foundation for a thriving ecosystem.
