Finding the right balance

Following the pandemic, the University of Zurich (UZH) introduced a flexible 60/40 work model, with a pilot study exploring ways to make the new work environment both appealing and profitable. The study addressed the paradox of balancing focused individual work and the need for social interaction to foster a sense of appreciation among employees.

"So it's a matter of finding a balance between focused work, where you're usually alone, and the appreciation that employees want, which requires social interaction," Prof. Dr. Jochen Menges says. […] "Employees want both," says Dr. Jennifer Sparr, "to work in a focused way and to exchange ideas."
